First player from the Baton Rouge region invited to USWNT camp
Baton Rouge, LA – [September 5, 2025] – St. Joseph’s Academy standout defender Camille Toussant has been named to the roster for the U.S. U-17 Women’s National Team training camp taking place September 7-14 at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center located south of San Diego, California. Her selection marks a historic first for the Baton Rouge region, as she becomes the area’s first-ever invitee to a U.S. Women’s National Team camp.
A native of French Settlement, Louisiana, Toussant began her soccer journey with Baton Rouge Soccer Club before moving into the Louisiana Elite Soccer Program’s Girls Academy League. As a commanding center back on the U17 squad, she helped lead her team to the Girls Academy Finals, where her standout performances earned national attention.
In addition to club success, Toussant plays high school soccer for St. Joseph’s Academy and recently committed to play collegiate soccer at LSU, joining teammate Ella Kate Johnston.
“This is a great accomplishment for Camille, her family, our club and girls’ soccer in Louisiana,” said Adrian Garcia, her head coach at Louisiana Elite Soccer Program. “The work she has put in to improve her game both mentally and physically to take the next step is evident, and I can’t wait to see the next door she knocks down. I’m proud of her and her teammates for getting to events to showcase the quality we have here at home.”
Kiran Booluck, Technical Director at Louisiana Elite Soccer Program, added: “Camille is a fantastic role model to her peers and everyone around her. She is a fantastic student-athlete who always puts her team first. She has elevated her game over the past couple of years through hard work and determination, which shows in her becoming a future LSU player. Everyone at Louisiana Elite and in the state of Louisiana are extremely proud of her and we are all excited to see how she performs against the very best talent across the nation.”
The U.S. U-17 Women’s National Team camp, led by head coach Katie Schoepfer, will bring together 24 of the nation’s top players born in 2008/2009, as the group begins preparing for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup cycle.
For Toussant, the camp provides not only an opportunity to represent Louisiana on the national stage but also to continue paving the way for future generations of players from the region.
